Traditional Batten and Board, using plywood joined with a horizontal flashing and overlayed battens has been used extensively in New Zealand as a cost effective method of cladding a home. In recent years architects developed a new take on this cladding with the use of random width boards to create vertical interest. This premium look has predominately used imported exotic timbers such as ceder or larch which allowed the abilty to achieve continuous clean lines.
